Cardiovascular Technology involves a variety of procedures, instruments and technologies to diagnose and treat cardiac and vascular problems. Cardiovascular Technologists perform electrocardiograms (ECGs), Exercise Stress Test, Echocardiography, assist Cardiac Catheterization,invasive and non-invasive proceduresand advanced life support techniques like intra aortic balloon pump, pacemakers, ICDs,CRTs,and LVADs.

Most positions for cardiovascular technologists are in hospitals. Cardiovascular technologist handlestheequipment, technologies and tools in Cardiac Catheterisation Centres as well as their regular maintenance which requires advanced and focused knowledge of the scientific principles on which the tests and equipments function.Cardiovascular Technologists are given hands-on skill in using these equipments correctly and safely.


Admission to the B.Sc. Cardiovascular Technology programme in any year will be based on the results of Srinivas University Entrance Test (SUET) held that year.


Duration shall be for a period of three and half years including six months of Internship.


A candidate seeking admission to the B.Sc. Cardiovascular Technology shall have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission and have studied English as one of the principle subject during the tenure of the course

  1. Two year Pre-University examination or equivalent as recognized by University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principle subjects of study.


  1. Pre-Degree course from a recognized University considered as equivalent by University, (two years after ten years of schooling) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principle subjects of study.


  1. Any equivalent examination recognized by the University for the above purpose with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principle subjects of study.


  1. The vocational higher secondary education course conducted by Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Government of Kerala with five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in addition to vocational subjects conducted is considered equivalent to Plus Two examinations of Government of Karnataka.


  1. Candidates with two years Diploma from a recognized Government Board in a subject for which the candidate desires to enrol, in respect to B.Sc. Cardiovascular Technologyshall have passed plus 2 [10+2] with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, as principal subjects or candidates with 3 years diploma from a recognized Government Board in a subject for which the candidate desires to enrol.


  1. Lateral entry to second year allied health science courses for candidates who have passed Diploma programme from the Government Boards and recognized by University, fulfilling the conditions specified under Sl. No. 5 are eligible to take admission on lateral entry system only in the same subject studied at diploma level.



  1. The candidate shall have passed individually in each of the principle subjects.
  2. Candidates who have completed diploma or vocational course through Correspondence shall not be eligible for admission to the course.

Cardiovascular technologist is an integral member of healthcare profession, using various imaging technologies; they assist physicians in determining underlying cardiac pathologies. Entry level technologist perform electrocardiogram (ECG) & may set up stress tests &Holter monitoring, ambulatory BP monitoring. They can perform more diagnose tests using ultrasound,i.e. echocardiography & other type of non-invasive procedures. They may operate ultrasound equipment to take a close look at the chambers, valves & vessels of human heart .On the other hand a technologist can assist doctors by working in cardiac catheterization laboratory.


  • Cardiovascular Technologist assists physicians in diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and peripheral vascular (Blood vessel) disorders.
  • A cardiovascular technologist performs non invasive cardiac diagnostic tests like echocardiography, exercise stress test, holter and ambulatory BP monitoring.
  • They also assist cardiologist in the invasive cardiac techniques like percutaneous coronary intervention, Balloon valvuloplasties, Cardiac pacemaker, ICD, CRT and LVAD implantations & other tests to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease.
  • Cardiovascular technologist may specialise in their areas of practice like cardiac catheterisation and interventionor echocardiography, vascular technology/sonography.


Entrance exam will be conducted every year in the last week of June or first week of July and students will be selected based on the rank system.
