ORIENTATION PROGRAMME of Under-graduate Courses 2017-18 – INVITATION

 


Orientation Program of  Srinivas University

The Orientation Programme was organised for the first year BBA and BCom.  students from 20th July 2017 to 22nd July 2017 in the college Auditorium. In the inception of the programme, the videos related to student’s start-ups were played. The main objective of the program is to welcome the new students and their parents for Srinivas family and to make aware of courses offered and the environment of Srinivas University.

The program started with prayer by Vysna and team of BBM, It was followed by welcome speech by Prof. Anet Florence, Principal & Dean, SCHM. The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Mrs. Pavithra Kumari, Coordinator of BBA and UG programme Co-ordinators briefed about their respective courses and departments.

Dr. Anil Kumar, Registrar Srinivas University proclaimed Srinivas University has started full swing with its flagship programmes.

Further, Dr Ajay K G, Registrar (Development) Srinivas University, claimed University programmes meet the requirements of the industry.

Dr. P.S. Aithal Vice Chancellor & Prinicipal SIMS, spoke about the Courses offered by Srinivas University and how it is different from others. He also said the students to encash all the opportunities provided.

Administering Oath is done by Smt. Mitra S Rao, Secretary, A Shama Rao Foundation, Managalore.

Dr. A Srinivas Rao, Pro-Chancellor, Srinivas University & Vice president, A. Shama Rao foundation gave a talk on various aspects of education.  He pointed out the real hard work can lead people to the pinnacle of success.  He also motivated the students to build leadership qualities and encash all the opportunities provided by the University to them.

Present student, new comers and their parents expressed view about the college.

The programme was presided over by Sri CA A Raghavendra Rao, Chancellor, Srinivas University & President A Shama Rao Foundation, expressed the advantages of learning in Srinivas Private University.  The focus of this University is mainly on student development.  The University also aims to meet the corporate requirements by designing a pragmatic curriculum.

A vote of thanks is proposed by a Prof. Shailashri V T, Dean, Commerce & Management. The students Ms. Ashwathi, and Mr. Hibin students compered the programme.

Finally programme was concluded by National Anthem

As a continuation of Orientation programme, guest lectures were organized on 21th July, 2017. In the first session a Dr. P.S. Aithal Vice Chancellor & Principal SIMS, gave brief introduction about college courses and guidelines to make known environment.

Prof Ajay Narula, explained about basic etiquettes, manners and he showed some videos to the students regarding the manners which is required to present generation.

Third day of orientation programme was continued by Guest lecture by Dr. P.S. Aithal Vice Chancellor & Principal SIMS, explained about how to reach success and elements of success.

Prof. Shailashri V T, Dean, Commerce & Management explained the students about basic Communication skills.

Workshop

A Corporate Oriented Professional Training Program was organized for Final year BBM students on 14-07-2017 and 15-07-2017 at Srinivas Institute of Management Studies, Pandeshwar Campus. This session was handled by Prof. Mr. Ajay V. Narula Corporate Trainer of Srinivas Institute of Management Studies. This program was presided by Dr. P.S. Aithal, Principal, Srinivas Institute of Management Studies.and coordinated by Prof. Pavithra Kumari Course Co-ordinator. This workshop was conducted in a shared learning mode. The objective of this is to supplement existing professional development efforts of graduating  students and improve their employability skills quotient.

There was 3 sessions conducted in the morning from 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.  There was 8 teams participated. This session included introduction about the training, Creative Greetings, personality and etiquettes, team building, and Leadership.

Afternoon there was 3 sessions were conducted which including group exercise, listening skills, effective public speaking, Evaluation done with score card and feedback formats, framed questions and answers, assignments, and presence. Students were actively participated actively in all the sessions with enthusiasm.

The Second day of workshop, First session started at 9:30 a.m. Effective public speaking competition was held followed by tea break and some motivational videos displayed and presentation on group discussion conducted, and in the afternoon session panel debate as well as group discussion competition was held. All the students are actively participated and at the end of the session evaluation were done with the feedback, and Trophies were distributed to the winning team, and certificates & Prizes were issued to all the participants.At the end the workshop was concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Hibin Syed Mohammed of final year BBM.

1. Admission
Admission is open to B.Com., B.B.A. and M.B.A. courses under Srinivas University.  Interested students are requested to contact the College office and submit their applications before last date (15th August 2017).

2. D. Programme
Research and Innovation Council (RIC), Srinivas University has announced admission to Ph.D. programme (Full Time only) in various departments through Entrance Test followed by Interview. The Programme is governed by Ph.D. regulations of Srinivas University. Selected candidates who enroll for full-time Ph.D. programme may be entitled for a Research fellowship/Teaching assistantship after two years as per Srinivas University rules. The tentative number of seats (fulltime/sponsored) available in each discipline is mentioned below:

Interested candidates may submit application in the prescribed form available in the website along with an application fee of Rs. 1,000 (Rupees One thousand only) in the form of DD in favour of “The Registrar, Srinivas University”, payable at Mangalore.  Last date for submission of application along with DD is July 25, 2017.  Date of entrance test : August 4, 2017 (Friday) (10.30 AM to 12:30 AM) Date of interview (only for those who qualifies the entrance test) : August 05, 2017(Saturday) (10:00 AM onwards). The Entrance test will be objective type with two sections of equal weight (i) Research aptitude and (ii) Core subject at the respective P. G. level (UGC NET Pattern).

Srinivas Institute of Management Studies Gets FIRST in Global Ranking

College of Business Management and Commerce (Formerly Srinivas Institute of Management Studies (SIMS)), Mangalore, a premier Business School in Dakshina Kannada has been ranked FIRST among the Top 1,000 International Business Schools (other than the USA)  in the Number of Research Paper Publications in the Annual Ranking Announcement by the USA based Elsevier’s SSRN.  180 research papers published by SIMS faculty members in various International Journals during last year have been added to the SSRN database as on June 2017. Others within the first 100 ranks are Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (55th Rank), and Indian School of Business, Hyderabad (94th Rank).

SIMS could overtake World Top B-schools except Wharton B-School of Pennsylvania, Stern B-School of New York, Booth B-School of Chicago, and Harvard Business School of Boston to secure FIFTH Rank in SSRN Top 1000 Global Business Schools including USA.

In the category of TOP 12,000 Global Business Authors of SSRN ranking, Dr. P. S. Aithal, former Director of Srinivas Institute of Management Studies, and the present Vice Chancellor of Srinivas University retained FIRST Rank for the maximum number of research papers published during last 12 months. A motivational talk was organized for III year BBM and III year B.com  students on 03-07-2017 At Srinivas Institute of Management Studies, Pandeshwar Campus. This session was handled by Dr.Amitabh Anandh from SKIMA Business School, France. Dr.Amitabh Anandh well versed in excellent communication in English along with working knowledge of French and his research centre working on various multidisciplinary issues in management and business. His research focuses on Knowledge Sharing, Knowledge Hiding, Generosity in Business, Humility Culture in firms, Serendipity process & Bibliometrics. This programme was presided by Dr.P.S Aithal, Principal Srinivas Institute of Management Studies.
