The Legacy of A. Shama Rao Foundation
"Abhisheka Sukta defines life as being meaningful and a source of inspiration to fellow beings. The only right way of leading human life is by serving mankind."
The A. Shama Rao Foundation was established in 1988 in Mangaluru by Dr. CA A. Raghavendra Rao, an eminent Chartered Accountant, visionary entrepreneur, and educationist. The Foundation was named after his father, Late Shri A. Shama Rao (1909–1992), a pioneering educationist who dedicated his life to teaching and nation-building.
Shri A. Shama Rao began his illustrious teaching career in 1939, later serving as the Founder Headmaster of S.V.H. Higher Secondary Residential School (1943–1956) and retiring as the Headmaster of B.E.M. High School, Mangaluru in 1969. Even after retirement, he continued his contributions to education and social service until his passing at the age of 83. His wife, Smt. Indiramma Shama Rao (1917–2009), stood as a constant pillar of strength, playing the role of guide, supporter, and motivator in shaping the Foundation’s values.
The belief of Shri A. Shama Rao and Smt. Indiramma — “Education as a tool to transform society” — continues to inspire the Foundation’s mission. What began as a humble initiative has now grown into the Srinivas Group of Institutions, comprising 18 professional colleges and Srinivas University, collectively nurturing over 15,000 students across four campuses — Pandeshwar, Mukka, Valachil, and Bengaluru.
