M.Sc. in Emergency Medical Technology

Master of Sciences in Emergency Medical Technology is a 2-year course designed to provide in depth knowledge & impart skills for working as an assistant to the Interventional cardiologist in cardiac catheterization laboratory. The course is designed as a full-time residency program with responsibilities in managing the patients. The Post graduate student must take part in seminars, short topic discussions, case discussions, journal club presentations and clinical postings. The Academic training also includes lab work, experimental work and Dissertation. Students will be posted in Emergency, ICU, Pediatrics, orthopedics, O&G where the students can acquire knowledge. All the advanced EMT procedures will be taught during the two years. By the completion of two years students will be through in all cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Develop leadership capabilities and critical decision-making skills essential for functioning effectively in high-stress emergency environments. Foster the ability to evaluate, interpret, and apply current research findings to clinical practice in emergency care. Promote the integration of modern medical technologies and informatics in emergency medical response and patient monitoring. Enhance communication and teamwork skills for seamless collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Train professionals in mass casualty management, disaster preparedness, and emergency response planning. Instill high standards of professional ethics, empathy, and patient-centered care.

Curriculum framed in consultation with emergency medicine specialists, critical care experts, and educational technologists. Use of high-fidelity simulators and scenario-based learning to improve hands-on competencies in life-saving procedures. Extensive clinical exposure in emergency departments, ICUs, ambulances, and trauma care centres. Mandatory research project or thesis to cultivate academic inquiry and analytical skills. Practical training through mock drills and real-time emergency simulations, including fire, earthquake, and mass casualty management. Focused training on patient communication, teamwork, documentation, and medico-legal aspects. Opportunities to earn certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and other emergency protocols. Career guidance, resume workshops, and placement assistance with ambulance services, hospitals, and disaster response agencies. Blended learning with online modules, recorded lectures, and interactive assessments.

Course Eligibility

  • To be eligible for an M.Sc. in Emergency Medical Technology, Candidate shall have passed a B.Sc. Accident & Emergency Care Technology (AECT)/ Trauma Care Technology (TCM)/ Emergency & Trauma Care Technology (ETCT)/Critical Care Technology (CCT)/Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology (AOTT)/ Respiratory Therapy Technology (RTT) (regular mode) from a UGC-recognized University.

  • Minimum 55% aggregate of marks in qualifying examination
