B.Sc. Interior Design

This Interior Design program is crafted to showcase a designer’s creativity and expertise through an engaging portfolio, trend-based guides, and expert tips on space planning. It highlights signature design styles and provides behind-the-scenes insights into real-life projects, helping viewers understand the process and inspiration behind each design.   • To create designers who have an intuitive understanding of the market needs and have a desire to create better living environment and have a deep understanding of nature and her resources.
  • To equip the students with a holistic knowledge and a balanced perspective of designing.
  • To create opportunities for the designers to advance the skill sets in the country through innovation, education, and research.
  • Understanding the fundamentals of balance, rhythm, proportion, emphasis, and unity is crucial and understanding colour palettes, their psychology, and how to use them effectively in design.
  • Learning how to effectively utilize and organize spaces, including floor plans and layouts include knowledge of different materials, their properties, and how to select them appropriately for various applications.
  • Learning Human Ergonomics and their implementation on furniture styles, scales, and how to integrate them into a design.
  • Understanding the principles of lighting, different types of lighting fixtures, and how to use them to create ambiance and functionality.
  • Courses include instruction in design software like AutoCAD, 3DS Max, Google Sketchup etc.
  • Understanding sustainable design principles and incorporating them into both residential and commercial projects.
  • Developing skills in communicating design ideas with design principles and following professional practice ethics, to understand the client requirements and their needs.
  • Opportunities to gain real-world experience through internships with Architect and Design firms.
  • Guidance on creating a professional portfolio to showcase skills and experience.
  • Curriculum Updates: Ensure the course curriculum is up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies.
Course Syllabus
  • Each semester consists of 24 credit points and a total of 600 marks.
  • The first semester focuses on fundamentals of design, Engineering materials, Graphics and basic knowledge on digital fluency with both theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • The second semester focuses on Human ergonomics, construction materials, Computer Aided Design with both theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • The third semester focuses on space planning in interior, with interior and exterior lighting and landscaping basics.
  • The fourth semester focuses on the history of interior, construction details and home automation, different types of residential projects with minimum 2 case studies and students should redesign any one residence.
  • The fifth semester focuses on specification, estimation, costing, professional practice and plumbing and sanitation with commercial projects with 2 case studies and one redesign.
  • The sixth semester focuses on a student’s internship programme and their portfolio with any one specialization topic with either residence or commercial.

To be eligible for admission to Srinivas Institute, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Must have completed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board.
