ORTHOCON 2023 REPORT

ORTHOCON -2023, a National level conference was held on 16th of December 2023 on the theme, PATIENT CENTERED APPROACH IN KNEE REHABILITATION: BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN EVIDENCE AND PRACTICE a multifaceted conference on knee rehabilitation.The event was inaugurated by chief guest Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Honorable pro-chancellor, Srinivas university. Dr. Rajasekar S, Dean, Institute of Physiotherapy was the organizing chairman and Dr. R. Kamalakannan, Associate Professor was the organizing secretary of the conference.There were over 120 delegates who participated in the conference along with the faculties of the institute of physiotherapy, five eminent speakers from different parts of India. Objectives of the conference were: 1.To develop knee rehabilitation that should be a tailored approach, a personalized roadmap to recovery. It's about understanding the unique needs of each patient, recognizing their strengths, and addressing their weaknesses. 2.Empowering patients to take charge of their healing process by placing them at the nucleus of care. 3.This patient centric approach to be done with considerations to the up to date robust evidences for the treatment with scientific root.The five scientific talks gave us an insight in to different aspects of various knee injuries and its pathomechanics and management. Also there was a panel discussion on the topic APPLICATION OF BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL MODEL IN KNEE REHABILITATION which discussed about the patient-oriented barriers, stressors and coping up strategies to overcome the illness.The conference had a successful completion and the feed backs were excellent and notable, thus with this conference the Physiotherapy students and the novice physiotherapists could sculpt a future where the journey of knee rehabilitation isnt just about healing joints but about empowering lives.
