On June 15 2024, the NSS unit of the Institute of Physiotherapy at Srinivas University, in collaboration with Srinivas Hospital, Mukka, successfully conducted a blood donation camp to contribute to the blood bank and raise awareness about the importance of blood donation. The event aimed to encourage students, faculty, and staff to participate in this noble cause and help save lives. The camp took place at the city campus located in Pandeshwar and commenced at around 9:30 am. Pre-registration for the camp was conducted from June 7 to June 14, 2024.A team comprising 2 doctors, 3 laboratory technicians, and 4 assistants from the Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital were present to oversee the camp’s operations. Prior to donation, donors were required to complete a medical questionnaire to ascertain their health status and eligibility for blood donation.The camp saw enthusiastic participation from over 40 donors, including students, faculty, and staff members. Volunteers from the Institute’s NSS unit played a crucial role in organizing and managing the event. Refreshments and rest areas were provided to donors post-donation to ensure their well-being. Each donor received a certificate of appreciation from the organizing committee.The blood donation camp was a resounding success. It not only achieved its goal of collecting a substantial amount of blood but also fostered a sense of social responsibility and community service among students and staff. The college plans to make this annual event to continue contributing to this life-saving cause.
