Basic Life Support (BLS) refers to a type of medical assistance that trained professionals such as emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and qualified bystanders can provide. This care is for individuals experiencing life-threatening conditions or injuries and is given until they can receive comprehensive medical treatment at a hospital.Srinivas University Institute of Physiotherapy, Mangalore and Charles Institute, Trivandrum, Kerala organised American Heart Association's provider certificate course on Basic Life Support (BLS) at Hotel Srinivas Saffron on 18.03.2024.18 participants including Physiotherapy interns and faculty members of Institute of Physiotherapy attended the hands on BLS workshop. Dr. Rajasekar S, Dean, Institute of Physiotherapy, Srinivas University inaugurated the workshop. Dr. M. Premkumar and Dr. Madhuripu P, Associate Professors organised the workshop effectively.Mr. Arun Pillai, AHA instructor conducted the workshop and certification exams. AHA BLS course materials on BLS were taught to participants with effective video based hands on learning. Dr. Kamalakannan gave the vote of thanks. By the end of the event, all participants became AHA certified BLS providers.
