The World Stroke Day was observed on 29th October at the Neuro Physiotherapy Department, Srinivas University, Institute of Physiotherapy, Pandeshwar. Our respected Dean, Dr. Rajshekhar, served as the esteemed guest for the event. The program focused on raising awareness about stroke and honouring the resilience of stroke survivors, the dedication of their families, and the commitment of healthcare providers. The event began with a warm welcome by Dr. Thrishala Noronha, Associate Professor followed by an introduction to the significance of World Stroke Day. This year’s theme emphasized the power of sport to inspire stroke prevention and awareness.Postgraduate student Dr. Supritha, then shared key insights on stroke, covering its causes, warning signs, and prevention strategies, with a special focus on the FAST acronym for early intervention, as well as practical prevention tips like diet and exercise. The critical role of physiotherapy in stroke recovery was also highlighted, showcasing its importance in helping survivors regain strength, mobility, and independence. As a gesture of appreciation, fruit baskets were distributed to stroke patients, symbolizing support and respect. Additionally, students prepared e-posters on stroke warning signs, prevention practices, and physical activity for stroke patients, providing valuable information to attendees. Dr. Premkumar then announced the creation of the Srinivas Stroke Survivor Community Group, created to support stroke patients with adequate rehabilitation care. Later, the program included games and activities to foster joy and a sense of community, with patients enthusiastically participating and enjoying the program. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Meghashree Nayak, Assistant Professor to the guests, faculty, students, and everyone who contributed to making the event meaningful and memorable. Overall, the program was a remarkable success.
