The Student Development Program on Basic Research in Healthcare - Hybrid Learning (SDP) was an enriching academic event organized by the Institute of Physiotherapy, Srinivas University, held from December 31, 2024 to January 4, 2025. The program kicked off on 31st December with an inaugural session graced by the presence of honourable Dean I/C, Dr Thrishala Noronha. The program aimed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required for conducting research in the healthcare sector. The program’s core objective was to introduce participants to the fundamental aspects of research in healthcare, including research methodologies, writing a research protocol and manuscript, and the importance of disseminating research findings through publications. The event brought together students, with a total of 92 final year undergraduate and postgraduate participants eager to enhance their understanding of research methodologies and their applications in improving healthcare outcomes. The event's hybrid format, incorporating both in-person and virtual sessions, ensured maximum accessibility, allowing students to participate actively. The event was structured to blend theoretical concepts with practical applications. Through a series of lectures, and interactive sessions, the program allowed participants to gain a deeper understanding of research design, evidence-based practices, and the critical role research plays in advancing healthcare. Dr. M Premkumar, Associate Professor, IPT and Dr. Glenisha Ancita D Souza, Assistant Professor, IPT both recognized in healthcare research, served as the key resource persons, while Dr. Rachana Girish K, Assistant Professor. IPT coordinated the event, ensuring its smooth execution and success. Dr. Premkumar focused on introduction to Research Search strategies related to Literature Review and planning a research study, writing a research protocol and manuscript writing while Dr. Glenisha provided expertise on formulating research question, hypothesis and objectives. Their combined experience in healthcare research enabled participants to explore practical approaches to addressing current healthcare challenges through scientific inquiry. The program also placed a significant emphasis on the importance of disseminating research findings effectively. Participants learned how to structure research papers, the importance of citations, and strategies for submitting articles to reputable journals. This aspect of the program was vital for students looking to pursue research careers and contribute to the academic community within healthcare. In conclusion, the SDP - Student Development Program on Basic Research in Healthcare - Hybrid Learning was a highly successful event The expert guidance provided by Dr. M Premkumar and Dr. Glenisha Ancita D Souza, coupled with the efficient coordination by Dr. Rachana Girish K., ensured that the program met its objectives of enhancing students' research capabilities.
